On the 22nd June, Beth and Jareer set off on their research trip to Oman as one of the final stages of their internship.
Jareer decided he was going to write reports on social media influencers and climate change, and Beth chose to write about the health care sector. Beth was lucky enough to meet with several key ministers from the Ministry of Health, including His Excellency Dr Ahmed Al-Saidi, the Minister of Health, and Dr Ali Al-Hinai, the Undersecretary for Planning Affairs. Jareer met with Ibrahim Al-Ajmi, the Director of Climate Affairs, and two of Oman's most famous social media influencers.
Aside from these meetings, both interns had plenty of free time to explore Muscat and even managed to take a trip up to Jebel Al Akhdar on their last weekend.
The interns also had the opportunity to attend the Farewell Reception for the Head of the British Council at the British Ambassador's Residence.
All-in-all, the trip was a great success. The friendly, community spirit of the Omani people meant that they were both looked after extremely well, and experienced first-hand what Omani life is really like.
