The British Omani Society is supporting a visit for three emerging Omani artists to visit the United Kingdom this autumn. The aim of the visit is to develop skills, increase understanding and provide exposure for the artists’ work. There will be an exhibition including the work of the visiting artists in Central London.
This year, the visit is focused on traditional art, and the organisers are looking for artists interested in working in oil or acrylic. The visit will take place from 2nd to 30th September 2024. The time in the UK will include 2 weeks of tuition and workshops at the Welsh Academy of Art, which provides a unique opportunity in Wales to practice the classical methods of drawing and painting. The successful applicants will study landscape, portrait and still life painting, and conduct a program of visits. There will also be time to create new work. The visit is fully funded by support from a number of generous sponsors.
Applications are being sought from enthusiastic and talented Omani artists to take part in the visit. They must hold a valid Omani passport and be available to travel in September. Applicants should provide a short resume and a brief explanation of how they will benefit from the visit, either written or by recording a short video. Applicants are also requested to include 5 examples of their artwork digitally.
Applications are requested by email to omanart@gedney.uk by 9 May 2024.
