Grant Application 

The Trustees of The British Omani Society accept applications for activities that contribute towards the Society`s charitable objects.

Applications are assessed at board meetings held approximately every quarter.


Applications must fall within the Society's charitable objectives (see below). They should also meet as many of the criteria listed below as possible.

Proposal

  • Application promotes the British Omani friendship
  • Application involves both British and Omani participants
  • Application provides lasting benefit to participants in terms of new formal training or skills
  • Application will benefit people beyond those submitting it.
  • Application is aligned with Oman’s 2040 Vision Pillars and Priorities
  • Proposed event has significant reach and potential to meet a wider audience than the existing Society
  • Proposal will contribute to primary research on Oman or represents a significant breakthrough in the relevant field

Funding

  • Application has secured funding from other sources
  • Application falls into funding gap and would not otherwise proceed without support from the British Omani Society
  • Application is appropriately costed
  • Applicant is contributing their own resources

Charitable Objectives of the British Omani Society

  • To advance the education of the British public by the promotion of learning and a wider knowledge about Oman; its people, history, geography, economy, literature, art, music, antiquities, languages, cultures, religions, beliefs, customs, industry and commerce by arranging lectures, seminars and meetings, which may be open to the public; and by assisting individuals and organisations by providing bursaries, awards, scholarships, training, apprenticeships and financial and logistical support.
  • To advance the education of Omani nationals by the promotion of learning and a wider knowledge about the United Kingdom; its people, history, geography, economy, literature, art, music, heritage, the English language, cultures, religions, beliefs, customs, industry and commerce by arranging lectures, seminars and meetings, which may be open to the public; and by assisting individuals and organisations by providing bursaries, awards, scholarships, training, apprenticeships and financial and logistical support.
