The British Omani Society is seeking a successor to the present Company Secretary who retires later this year. This is a key role working closely with the Society’s Board of Trustees.
The Company Secretary is the nominated point of contact with both Companies House and The Charities Commission - and carries mandatory reporting responsibilities. However, these are well-documented and the processes are similar from year to year.
Additionally, the Company Secretary supports the Management Committee and the Board and is responsible for producing the agenda and minutes of the five Trustees meetings that take place in the course of a year.
The role is voluntary and unpaid, but travel expenses can be reimbursed. Basic computing skills will be very helpful! The outgoing Secretary will still be available to advise and assist and has offered an extended handover period until the incoming Secretary feels comfortable with the annual cycle of events.
This could well suit a member in retirement with a desire to make an active contribution to the organisation. The British Omani Society has a captivating portfolio of activities both in the UK and in Oman and this role within the management team is genuinely rewarding.
Both Companies House and the Charities Commission have rules and guidelines for prospective candidates.
To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to rsvp@britishomani.org.
