Oman's Economic Prospects Under HM Sultan Haitham

The talk will cover the recent developments in Oman since HM Sultan Haitham took power. Dr Al-Amri will cover the main changes in government structure, laws, and international relations. He will also cover some recent economic indicators of the sultanate. Finally he will provide an overview of the overall economic prospects of Oman and any new projects in the pipeline.

 

Dr Khalid Al-Amri

Dr. Khalid Al-Amri is the Executive Chairman of Omani Economic Association. He is the former CEO of Credit Oman (Export Credit Guarantee Agency of Oman S.A.O.C.). He has a wide experience in financial sector both insurance and banking. He holds a position as a faculty member in the college of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University. He has delivered strategic projects in the area of investment (managing investment portfolios), financial and economic stability, Islamic finance, corporate governance, and financial risk management, and multiple projects in Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).

He has accumulated both academic and professional experience. Dr. Khalid has worked at various capacities in different governmental entities include: Ministry of Finance, Capital Market Authority, and National Center of Statistics and Information (conducted a detailed technical study on the effect of the drop of oil prices on Oman’s economy), Tanfeedh (The National Program For Enhancing Economic Diversification) and main member in Oman vision 2040. He is also an advisor to the board of directors at Al Madina Takaful (SAOG) and board member in Oman Gases (S.A.O.G.), and in the served at board of Oman National Bank – Muzn.

Khalid holds a doctorate in finance and financial risk management from Fox school of Business at Temple University in the USA, Master of Science in Finance from Boston University in the USA, BSc. In Commerce and Economics.
