Mark Evans will share the plans for The Jewel of Arabia Expedition, a 30-day journey on foot, by camel and 4x4 following the 1928 trail of British explorer Bertram Thomas along the coastline of Oman, from Ras Al Hadd to Salalah.
Using Thomas’s diary, and starting on January 6th 2025, from carbon capture to raptor restaurants the journey will use podcasts, social media and live video links to tell the story of Oman’s rich biodiversity, and will put the spotlight on the increasing number of young people working hard to give Oman a sustainable future, and position The Sultanate as a global green energy hub.

About Mark Evans
Mark Evans is a British explorer, field guide, author, motivational speaker and wilderness advocate. He was awarded the MBE in 2011 for his work using outdoor journeys to connect cultures and promote intercultural dialogue between future leaders from the Arab and western world. was the founding ED of OB Oman, and in 2023. He was awarded The Medal of Honour by His Majesty Sultan Haitham for his services to Oman. He recently gave an insightful talk at the British Omani Society about the 28-day journey of British explorer Harry St John Philby across the Heart of Arabia.
