Stroke in the Young

Wednesday 17th May 2023, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

34 Sackville Street, London, W1S 3ED

Although stroke is perceived to be a disease of the older adults or aging population, we encounter in our daily practice young patients with stroke.

Those defy the conventional cause-and-effect model given the lack of the traditional risk factors in some of these patients and the presence of confounding risk factors in others. Sickle cell disease, Moya Moya illness, genetically driven disorders, and structural anomalies such patent foramen ovale are a few instances of these conditions.

This lecture will cover the risk factors, etiologies, and treatment of particular conditions linked to stroke in the young.
