Debbie is a freelance film-maker and first travelled to Oman in 2006 when she was sent on assignment for ‘Blue Peter’, filming stories reflecting the lives of young people in Oman. She immediately fell in love with the country and has returned there on many occasions.

In 2018 she spent a week in the desert filming with young people on a ‘Connecting Cultures’ course - an educational initiative that brings young people from Western and Arab countries together for wilderness journeys in the Omani desert to promote dialogue and understanding. The UNESCO-endorsed programme uses the challenging desert environment as a backdrop for learning and leadership.

Debbie continues to produce and direct programmes for BBC Television (BBC Events, Antiques Roadshow, Chelsea Flower Show, Gardeners’ World) and has travelled, studied and filmed in many countries, but of all the places she has visited, Oman remains one of her favourites.
