The British Omani Society (BOS) is proud to announce the 2026 Art Group project, marking another milestone in its mission to support emerging artists and deepen cultural connections between the United Kingdom and Oman.

This project marks the opening of the British Omani Society’s Golden Jubilee year. The 50th anniversary offers a significant moment to reflect on five decades of partnership, cultural exchange, and shared endeavour between Oman and the UK.

Building on the success of the inaugural programme in 2024, where four emerging Omani artists spent a month in the UK developing their skills and showcasing their work, the next phase of the exchange brings the creative journey back to Oman. From 16 to 24 January 2026, established British artists Lucy Corbett and Michelle McCullagh, assisted by Polly Gedney, will travel to Muscat to lead a series of immersive workshops with a cohort of emerging Omani artists.

A Creative Exchange Aligned with Vision 2040

The workshops will take place across some of Oman’s most inspiring natural landscapes, offering participants a unique environment to experiment, collaborate, and grow. Designed to strengthen artistic practice and spark innovation, the programme directly supports the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040, which emphasises developing national creative capabilities, expanding cultural tourism, and celebrating Omani heritage on the global stage.

By bringing together British and Omani artists, the project nurtures the exchange of ideas, techniques, and perspectives, helping to build a vibrant artistic community that reflects both countries’ shared commitment to cultural development.

Launched at the British Embassy in Muscat in January 2024, the BOS Art Group has quickly become a platform for emerging talent. This year’s workshops will also be supported by last year’s Omani participants who continue to play an active role in shaping the group’s growth and mentoring new artists.

Celebrating Collaboration Through Exhibition

The 2026 project is organised by the British Omani Society, supported by the British Embassy in Muscat, and generously sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. At the end of the workshop series, the British Embassy will host a special exhibition showcasing the collaborative work created by both the British and Omani artists.

This exhibition will not only highlight the artistic achievements of the participants but also celebrate the enduring cultural partnership between the UK and Oman.
