On 13 May 2026, the British Omani Society was honoured to hosted a high-level delegation from the Royal Academy of Management (RAM). The evening marked an important moment in the Society’s 50th anniversary year, bringing together senior stakeholders committed to strengthening the longstanding relationship between the United Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman.
The dinner was joined by Guest of Honour Dr. Ali bin Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management. The event convened Trustees of the Society, senior UK government figures, individuals with deep and longstanding links to Oman, and representatives from the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in London.

The visiting delegation reflected a significant level of senior representation from across Oman’s national institutions. Comprising leading figures in legislative and governance roles, alongside senior leadership from the Royal Academy of Management, the visit formed as part of Oman’s Vision 2040 agenda, with a clear focus on strengthening institutional effectiveness and enhancing public sector capabilities.
Through this engagement, the delegation sought to gain practical insights into how UK institutions are structured, how leadership is developed, and how policy is effectively translated into delivery, particularly in areas linked to governance, defence, and national resilience. The programme was facilitated by the Civil Service College, a leading provider of specialised training for public sector professionals, supporting knowledge exchange between UK and international institutions..
Richard Stanford, Chairman of the British Omani Society, welcomed guests and highlighted the Society’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties across education, leadership development, and institutional exchange. He underscored the significance of senior-level engagement in deepening cooperation between the two countries especially in times of tension in the region.

The evening provided a valuable opportunity for open discussion, with participants exchanging perspectives on leadership, governance, and public sector delivery. Conversations also explored opportunities for future collaboration between UK institutions and the Royal Academy of Management, particularly in areas such as professional development, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
