Omani Iftar Gathering at the BOS

The British Omani Society was delighted to host a Ramadan Iftar gathering on March 14th in partnership with the Omani Embassy's Cultural Attaché in London and the Oman Student Association in London.

Omani students from all over the UK gathered at 34 Sackville Street to break their fast, connect with each other and strengthen their sense of community with one another. Among them was our esteemed guest HE Badr Mohammed Al Mantheri, Ambassador of Oman to the UK, who greeted the students and broke his fast alongside them. Alumni from the Arabic Language Scheme and the Student Volunteer Oman Scheme were also in attendance, giving them a chance to reconnect and get to know some of the Omani students.

After breaking their fast, the President of Omani Student Association in London Ahmed Al Mayahi and BOS Chairman Richard Stanford gave speeches thanking the guests and highlighted how this iftar was not only an opportunity to break their fast together but also to come closer as a community. In addition to The British Omani Society grant, United Gulf Education kindly contributed sponsorship for students transport and accommodation to attend the iftar.

Events such as this are a great opportunity for Omanis in the UK to feel close to home and to celebrate during this blessed month of Ramadan. It was also great for our British guests to experience an iftar and learn more about Oman from the students attending.

It’s always a pleasure for us at BOS to host these iftar gatherings and we cannot wait for the next opportunity to bring Omanis in the UK closer together once more. We wish you all a blessed month of Ramadan!
