Speakers Dr Hamed Al Sinawi Senior Consultant Psychiatrist Sultan Qaboos University Dr Hamed is a certified Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and Chairman of Oman Alzheimer’s Society. He has a special interest in elderly mental health and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr Hamed did his postgraduate training in the UK (The Maudsley Scheme) and completed his fellowship in Old Age Psychiatry from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, in 2011. He established the Memory Clinic at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in 2011 and has several research projects in mental health. In 2014, Dr Hamed Al Sinawi was awarded Public Educator of the year by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He has participated in several national anti-stigma campaigns, presented at national and international conferences, and gives workshops in counselling, communications skills and mental health at work HH Sayyida Basma Al Said Psychotherapist & Hypnotherapist Founder of Whispers of Serenity HH Sayyida Basma Al Said is a visionary agent of change who has tirelessly championed the modernisation of mental health in the Sultanate of Oman and has become an icon for reform across the GCC. She has been recognised by many awards and honours for her work in the field of mental health. She was awarded the "Golden Shield of Excellence" from the Arab Women's Council - Amman - Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2015, and an honorary doctorate of youth volunteer projects - Dubai / United Arab Emirates in May 2015. She is certified by the American Psychological Association. She was ranked first for the Excellence Award for the category of health services of the Journal of Women 2012 and awarded the prestigious Omani “Woman of the Year” in 2016. She founded “Whispers of Serenity” the first clinic of its kind in Oman to provide a holistic range of psychotherapy services to men, women and children suffering from mental illness. She is also a passionate advocate for victims of child abuse and has done much work in this field, as her previous role as a member of the Committee for child abuse at the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman Hospital attests. Dr Richard Heron BP Vice-President Health and Chief Medical Officer As VP Health and Chief Medical Officer Richard is responsible for strategic development of the BP Group’s Health agenda including Employee Wellbeing, Occupational Health and Hygiene, Community and Public Health in the locations where BP operates. Richard also holds honorary appointments as Professorial Fellow of International Business and Health, Nottingham University, and is an honorary teacher at the University of Manchester, UK. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians - FRCP Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh - FRCP (Ed) Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK - FFOM Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine - FACOEM Eileen Pepple NHS Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Eileen currently works at the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service in Lewisham, London. IAPT is a service that provides psychological support to anyone that needs it free on the NHS. The main goal is to get people psychologically well enough to work and has a holistic approach to supporting mental wellbeing. She works with a variety of people with a range of different mental health backgrounds. Currently working towards the goal of becoming a psychologist.
