The Mangroves and Coastal Wetlands of the Sultanate of Oman

Rugged mountains with internationally significant geology, expanses of desert, pristine beaches, unique animal species and coral reefs. Oman has a varied and ecologically fascinating natural heritage. The annual Oman Natural Heritage Lecture (ONHL), now in its 7th year, aims to introduce you to this, because what we know about we are more likely to value and protect –  now and into the future.

This year's lecture will introduce you to the vitally important

Mangroves & Coastal Wetlands of The Sultanate of Oman

at

The Royal Geographical Society, London (& online)

6.45pm-8.30pm, 6 December 2023

(doors open 6.15pm)

Mangroves are one of Oman's nature superheroes. They shield shorelines from storms, create jobs and food security for coastal communities, capture carbon, and are critical habitats for wildlife including many breeding birds and marine species. At this lecture our speakers, two distinguished Omani field scientists, will tell us exactly why it is vital that we work to protect and restore mangroves and coastal ecosystems, for people and the planet.
