About the lecture

The British Omani Society is proud to welcome Oman Sail for a second time, as they present an inspiring talk on the progress of their groundbreaking SailFree programme. Launched in 2019, SailFree is the first para sailing initiative in the Middle East, dedicated to making sailing accessible to individuals with disabilities.

The talk will be delivered by SailFree sailor Hassan Al Lawati, who will share his personal journey including his early experiences living with a disability in Oman and working to fulfil his full potential, he will cover disability, sports, and empowerment. You will also hear from Khamis Al Anbouri, Head of Corporate and Personal Development, Oman Sail, who will speak about this pioneering programme and highlight some achievements and milestones so far.

SailFree, delivered in partnership with BpOman and the Oman Paralympic Committee, was launched on 3rd December 2019 (United Nations, International Day of Persons with Disabilities) and has truly changed lives. This unique programme provides an opportunity for all athletes to try sailing, enjoy the freedom of being on the water and compete at an international level.

The lecture will be chaired by BOS Chairman Richard Stanford.
